Jim has a wealth of leadership and educational experience, with an emphasis on building authentic communities while having fun. He has spent the majority of his work life working with youth, parents, and young adults in and around Seattle, Chicago, San Francisco, and Boston.
Jim facilitated retreats and various student events at Seattle University, has led over 30 service and immersion trips, run many intergenerational adventures, co-directed the Capitol Hill Homeless Youth Center (Seattle), coached several sports at the high school and collegiate level, created and led an after-school wellness center at a local high school, is a certified Love and Logic teacher, completed a 20-week class on Wellness and Positive Psychology Coaching through the College of Executive Coaching, spent 10 weeks as a full-time ICU Chaplain Resident at Evanston (IL) Hospital, and is committed to making the world a bit better and easier for adolescents and their parents.
Jim was a successful three-sport D-III athlete in college, and is now embarrassed when he can't chase down drop shots while playing Pickleball. Among other interesting stories, he once spent a couple days with Barry Sanders in the fall of his rookie season (played Tecmo Bowl with Barry - who played as Bo Jackson - and helped him pick out his first suit), and once body guarded for Ace Frehley of KISS in Daytona Beach.
He is also quick to admit that despite this somewhat interesting (and maybe egocentric, since self-written) resume, he also has many flaws, has made many mistakes, and needs to work harder at keeping good mental health. And he has never made a hole-in-one...
Jim recently moved to Santa Barbara, where he lives with his wife Ingrid and their two daughters (well, one is actually at Creighton University).
